Action Sports Technology Inc2004 – Present
• Owner of Action Sports Technology Inc and SnowboardMaterials.com. I specialize in snowboard and ski product design, machinery and process design, manufacturing consulting, sales and marketing consulting, as well as retail/wholesale ski, snowboard and skateboard materials worldwide via SnowboardMaterials.com. • As part of my duties at Action Sports I work in a product design consulting capacity with many different ski and snowboard companies when building their machinery, molds and processes, and as such I have a very good overview on current trends in design and manufacturing in the industry. Similarly I also offer sales and marketing consulting services when companies are developing strategies to bring their products to market. • Expert at Photoshop, Illustrator, Coreldraw, Premiere, Autodesk Maya, BobCad/CAM, and I am learning Autodesk Fusion 360. Can operate most CAD programs though am most proficient in those mentioned. I am very experienced with computers in general, build most of my own computers and know basic IT and networking skills. Also familiar and competent in office software such as Excel, Word, Access, Quickbooks and other programs.
Owner/Operator - Custom Shop Snowboards/SnowboardMaterials.com
Custom Shop Snowboards1998 – 2004
• Custom Shop Snowboards was one of the first, if not the first, custom snowboard companies. Leveraging experience from my years at Option Snowboards and Powderstick snowboards, Custom Shop built custom snowboards and skis with fully customized design including custom sublimated graphics. Sublimation was relatively new to the industry when the company started and the ability to print one off custom designs enabled the company to offer fully customized skis and snowboards of a quality not seen previously. • When Snowtek and Jeffco products closed in the late 90's and were no longer offering raw materials for industry customers, I also started SnowboardMaterials.com to fill that void in the market. • In 2004 I opted to focus more on the materials and machinery side of the business and wound down Custom Shop Snowboards. I do on occasion still build custom skis and snowboards for friends or customers and have a fully operable prototyping and low volume manufacturing facility.
Snowboard Designer/Factory Manager
Kuu Snowboards1996 – 1998
• As a management consultant, I set up Kuusport’s snowboard factory & helped develop their marketing effort. Snowboard Designer/Factory Manager
Beyond Snowboards/FBM Composites1994 – 1996
• Helped co-ordinate the merger between Beyond Snowboards (My company) and FBM/United (a Vancouver based sporting goods company) for a planned Vancouver Stock Exchange public offering. The company operated as an OEM snowboard producer, and also marketed its own brands of boards and clothing. • Responsible for Production & Product Design as well as Sales and Marketing for a few house brands, and was the "industry expert" on the company board. • The merger and IPO fell apart when the principals at FBM opted to take a Canadian government subsidized growth fund loan, and not take the company public
Snowboard Designer/Factory Manager
Option Snowboards1991 – 1994
• I was the “person behind the scenes” at Option during their start-up. As the principals were new to snowboarding, it was largely through my efforts that the company grew so rapidly and established the large market share enjoyed during the 1990’s and early 2000’s. • Set up their Factory, designed their first 2 season's boards in addition to other management duties. I was also responsible for setting up Option's worldwide distribution, including North American sales reps, and distributors in Japan, and Europe and travelled throughout the world in a sales/marketing capacity • Option became a top brand and won a Canadian exporter of the year award in 1997. The company eventually closed in 2010 after being sold to Umbro Industries (Former Sims North America distributor)
Snowboard Designer/Factory Manager - President
Powderstick Snowboards Ltd.1983 – 1991
In 1983, Powderstick was one of the first snowboard companies in the industry. I managed all aspects of the company including finance, sales, production and marketing for 9 years until the business/assets were sold to Option Snowboards in 1991. Powderstick also owned and operated a 10,000 sq foot indoor skateboard park and retail store in addition to the snowboard factory.
