In My Own Words
I am a PNW-based photographer, writer, filmmaker and artist. I capture action, product and studio visuals for clients in action sports, adventure travel, tech, health and fitness, as well as creating copy for those same industries. Outside of the commercial space, I create cyanotype designs as original art, then showcase them on apparel, accessories, paper products and home decor (karenjohansonart.com). One of my goals is to collaborate with hard and soft goods manufacturers to get my designs on CPG. I am available for ongoing part-time collaborations or freelance projects, plus the potential of full-time roles: Check out my work, then contact me to see how I can help your business. Clients, past and present, include REI, Eddie Bauer, Sweetlines Mountain Bike Coaching, Redline Bicycles, Momentum Magazine, Mountain Cycle, Lat34, NSMB, BikePT, American Physical Therapy Association, Sports + Lifestyle Unlimited, Microsoft, MSN, Starbucks, Seattle Times, Citysearch, Macy’s, TripleSpot, Open Places, Trazzler, Timberline Lodge and GORP.

The primary focus of this piece is creating hustle in our lives. At Malakye, one of our core beliefs is to first have a very clear topline goal, then break it down into three parts to achieve it, and keep pushing forward until it’s accomplished. This philosophy is embodied in the Malakye company icon – the triangle with an arrow on an upward trajectory 😊.
