TOES ON THE NOSE – DESIGN 2010- 4/01/16 Instrumental in modernizing the image, product direction and marketing, and increasing market share. This is done with the use of fabric choice, cut, new graphics and reinvention of prints in the brand archive as well as new vendors. I created and scheduled the seasonal vision creating a line including wovens, fleece, jackets, knits, t-shirts, wetsuit tops/rash guards walk shorts and board shorts. Technical specs are coordinated and expedited by my team. Visits to International vendors are carried out as needed to ensure product quality and timeliness.

Freelanced under contact to design private label brands in the US, Europe and Asia. Designed and merchandised product categories for retail chains and boutiques. Worked with Chinese factories product developers remotely through Skype and FaceTime. Travelled to Hong Kong and Hangzhou China for development and production of product lines with exclusive vendor.

Managed, directed and designed a men’s sportswear line, defining and communicating the brands vision, philosophy and merchandising goals to the team. Provided creative inspiration and leadership while maintaining our production schedules in house and with vendors. Work closely with marketing to ensure a consistent and cohesive brand image. Collaborate with senior management on long and short term planning.

2000 – 2005 Responsible for design and direction of assistants and merchandisers for a line of knits, sweaters, fleece and jackets. Conduct research in Asia and Europe and utilize that in forecasting trends. Organize and train creative teams of designers and marketing personnel to interpret and adapt these trends in regard to brand identity, fit, color and pricing. Maintain scheduling and cost.

TOPS DESIGNER/PRODUCT MANAGER 1998 – 2000 Designing and directing a team of merchandisers and designers in the development of a line including knits, wovens, sweaters and fleece. This required a balance of creativity and management. Analyze International vendor capabilities to assure product quality and timely delivery within cost expectations. Prepare presentations for staff and management while utilizing the latest software to increase productivity. Manage private label category.

Created designs for the production of wovens, knits, fleece, board shorts, and accessories for specialty retail and department stores. Conduct research Nationally and Internationally on market trends, pricing and potential new vendors. Manage a design assistant and communicate the theme and vision of the brand to all departments. Maintain deadlines and cost projections. Promote new products to management and sales.
