News Director/on air talent/ Advertising/ Sales · MKS Broadcasting
Worked for the last five years for and 104.3 FM/KDBB and 1240 AM/KFMO radio. Started as a part time on-air personality and board operator however because of my background in journalism and personal work ethic quickly moved into the newsroom where I then worked my way up to the position of News Director. In my first year I came in runner up for live newscast at the annual 2013 Missouri Broadcasters Association Awards Ceremony. I sorted through all local meetings, hearings, trials, and other newsworthy local and regional events to present a 7-10 minute Newscast each day, including audio cuts, writing and producing said Newscast. I performed that Newscast each morning, live on our AM station following the end of our national news affiliate, and recorded a shorter newscast for our FM station. I also over-saw the work of my single afternoon News correspondent and took care of numerous other daily duties including calling resources, recording, cutting and using interviews with local police, fire, civic leaders and Government leaders. Interviewed state and national politicians, covered and attended news conferences and other media events, live when necessary. Put together weekly news meetings. I also assisted at live remotes for the station and updated our News and Obituary pages on our AM and FM websites. Left job because of cut-backs and changes to department in which news was no longer a priority.
