This month, we are going to deep dive into the 1972 album, self titled, ‘Arthur Verocai’. A pioneering work that blends Brazilian Rhythms with Jazz, Folk, Orchestral Arrangements, and Psychedelia. Creating a unique fusion of traditional Música Popular Brasileira and experimental elements.&nbsp; While the album initially flew under the radar, it has since become highly influential, both within Brazil and Internationally. The album transcends the genre of Brazilian music, and infact all genres. Highlighted in part by the number of artists that have sampled from it; MF Doom, Ludacris &amp; Common, Little Brother, Jneiro Jarel aka Dr Who Dat?, Dibiase and Action Bronson amongst others. Verocai's groundbreaking work has left a lasting legacy, shaping the sound of contemporary music globally and earning a cult following among musicians and listeners alike.&nbsp; “The only intention I had in making this record was to make something I can be proud of. I had no idea people would love it 40 years later. I did what I felt like doing.” - Arthur Verocai We will be listening to the album front to back on our Hi-Fi sound system at the peakof our evening.&nbsp; This will be alongside live sets from Explorare, an ever-evolving ensemble of LA's finest jazz virtuosos. Launched in early 2022, Explorare's mission is to delve into music &amp; it’s rich landscape through improvisational performances, where persistent grooves are shaped by the unique vibes of the individual members in the present moment. Featuring a band led by drummer Tommaso Cappellato, alongside pianist Diego Gaeta and bassist Tony Martin.&nbsp; As well a very special DJ set by the legendary J.Rocc, One of the original turntablists, founder of the Beat Junkies in 1992 alongside Melo-D and Rhettmatic, but has done just as much on his own as in a group setting. In addition to numerous mixtapes and his own production for Stones Throw releases, J. Rocc has been the DJ for Madlib's live shows since the early 2000's, was the 3rd member of Jaylib (Madlib &amp; J Dilla) during the group's live events. School will be in session this evening.
