In my own words

David

I'm an experienced creative leader who helps people make sense of the world.

I accomplish this through deep curiosity, continual learning, and looking at problems with a systems lens. As a "generalist" I use these perspectives to span across multiple domains. It allows a unique perspective where I am able to connect the dots and spot patterns in complexity. I use my strong empathy to understand the human condition in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world.

I have a track record of inspiring others to act, change, and develop in new ways to deliver change and real impact. I'm a maker at heart, I #GSD.

- Led UX Design, prototyping, and production UI of Technical Leader Pipeline App. Learned Angular in 1 month to eventually build a prototype for testing, reuse code for the front-end development. It saved weeks of development as well as roughly $20k for the cost of the upfront design. - Design and built a tool in Excel that distributed employees into a resourcing matrix based on performance and potential. Learned VBA quickly to automate the distribution. Prior to this it had been done by hand taking many days to do based on how many people in the organization. - Received Intel Division Recognition Award for co-building and designing an Operations dashboard so the team could have a holistic view of spends across the organization.

UX Designer & Developer/Service Designer/Strategist · Intel Corporation
Provoking and inspiring individuals and teams to think differently. Sometimes solutions to problems need different approaches to make sense of complexity. - Collaborated with Corporate Strategy Office (CSO) to devise a way for our Business Units to generate a compelling strategy themselves. As a company of over 100,000, it wasn’t feasible for the CSO team to meet with every Business Unit to walk them through the Strategy process. We delivered a unique tool that scaled the impact that the CSO had. Based on an iterative agile based process, the tool went from concept to reality in just 3 months part-time. Originally built in PHP and JQuery, I converted to Angular in early 2018. - Consult with IT Principal Engineer to produce real-time context-sensitive assistance tool (Guided Help). Tool was released globally. Impact: 79% of surveyed participants expect Guided Help to increase their pro- ductivity, and none expect it to decrease it. Asked which preferred method to get help, employees chose Guided Help over TAC, taking training, internal search like Circuit, external search like Google, and asking someone. Finance qualified NPV of ~$20 million. - Produced/Managed Blue Lights project – this was an innovation project. We created an immersive interac- tive installation that had never been done with all Intel gear. The project had $0 budget and no resources. We sold the idea to Richard Taylor, Chief Human Resources Officer, who provided budget for the project. To find project resources we used the internal DOT tool to pull two SW Engineers in. We had a successful launch not knowing if we could even do what we wanted, with a ribbon cutting with Richard Taylor. Result was an interactive display to convey inspirational quotes using Intel technology.
